ENVIRONMENTAL APPROVAL(UKL-UPL,AMDAL)

Under the regulatory framework established following the Job Creation Law, the term "Environmental Permit" has been renamed "Environmental Approval." This Environmental Approval is one of the Basic Requirements that business operators must obtain through the OSS RBA system before their operational permits become effective. This environmental document is categorized into several levels based on the scale of the business and how significant the potential negative impact on the surrounding environment (natural, social, and economic).
1. UKL-UPL (Environmental Management Measures– Environmental Monitoring Measures) Characteristics: For medium-scale businesses (lower-middle or upper-middle) that have specific environmental impacts, but for which management technologies are already available and clearly standardized, such as the construction of standard-rated hotels, medical clinics, small-scale factories, warehouses, or residential developments of a certain size.
2.AMDAL(Environmental Impact Assessment) Characteristics: Mandatory for large-scale businesses or activities that pose high risks and have significant or widespread impacts on the environment, ecosystems, or the general public.
Project Examples: Construction of airports, seaports, toll roads, dams, heavy chemical industries, large-scale mining, or Type A hospitals.
Process: The most complex. Must be prepared by a certified team (KTPA) and involves a public notice process, consultation with affected communities, as well as feasibility testing by the central or regional Environmental Feasibility Test Team (TUK).
